Dr. John Doe

My Philosophy

I am passionate about changing the way people experience dentistry. With a background in general dentistry, oral surgery, and sedation techniques, I strive to provide a calm and comfortable environment for every patient — especially those who may feel anxious about dental care.

My approach is rooted in open communication, honesty, and patient education. I believe that trust is the foundation for achieving lasting oral health, and I take pride in helping patients feel genuinely cared for and confident in their smiles. Whether it’s a simple checkup or a complex procedure, my goal is always to make the experience as positive and reassuring as possible.

Educational Background

I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and my journey into dentistry began during high school when I volunteered at a local community health clinic. It was there that I discovered how deeply oral health impacts confidence and overall well-being. Inspired, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Washington, where I graduated with honors and conducted undergraduate research on dental biomaterials.

I continued my education at the Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry, where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and graduated Cum Laude. During my time there, I was recognized with the Dr. Evelyn Harper Award for Clinical Excellence — an honor given to one student each year who demonstrates exceptional skill, empathy, and leadership in patient care.

Following dental school, I completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of Colorado, where I received advanced training in digital dentistry, implantology, complex restorative cases, and IV sedation. Since then, I have remained dedicated to continuing education through local and national dental study groups, focusing on emerging techniques in minimally invasive and aesthetic dentistry.

Personal Background

I have spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest and feel deeply connected to the communities that have shaped me, especially here in Portland. Many of my closest friends and family live nearby, and it’s incredibly rewarding to serve the same community that helped me grow. I take great pride in building lasting relationships with my patients — not just as their dentist, but as a trusted part of their lives.

Outside of my practice, I’m passionate about supporting the next generation of dental professionals. I currently serve as a mentor through the Oregon Dental Association’s Young Dentists Committee and co-founded a local initiative called Smiles in STEM, which introduces high school and college students—particularly young women—to opportunities in dental and medical sciences. The program focuses on career guidance, networking, and confidence-building for those considering a future in healthcare.

Community involvement has always been a cornerstone of my professional philosophy. Whether through volunteering at local dental outreach events, participating in continuing education study clubs, or mentoring future dentists, I’m committed to continuous learning and to helping elevate the quality of care in our field.
